BREAKING NEWS: FG Commences ATM Card Distribution for ₦75,000 Cash Transfer Nationwide
DocuNews Central | August 31, 2025
The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially commenced the distribution of ATM cards to Nigerians as part of its Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Initiative, a program designed to provide a ₦75,000 one-off payment to millions of vulnerable citizens across the country.
This development comes as economic hardship continues to bite hard across Nigeria, with soaring prices of food, fuel, and essential commodities. The government says this measure is one of several interventions aimed at easing the burden of ordinary Nigerians.
ATM Cards Begin Rolling Out
According to verified reports from the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO) and the National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO), the ATM card distribution officially began on August 29, 2025, starting with beneficiaries in Gombe State at Jekadafari Darazawa Quarters.
Recipients who successfully collect and activate their ATM cards will receive ₦75,000 directly credited to their accounts.
Officials say the program will expand nationwide in phases, ensuring that the process is transparent and that only verified individuals benefit.
Why ₦75,000?
The ₦75,000 payment is intended as temporary relief to help vulnerable Nigerians cope with the high cost of living, transportation, and food insecurity. Government insiders describe it as part of the broader Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Alongside this, the federal government is also rolling out:
The ₦50,000 Presidential Grant Scheme for small businesses,
Youth Enterprise loans,
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to reduce transport costs,
And nationwide food palliative distributions through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.
How to Become a Beneficiary
Not every Nigerian automatically qualifies. According to the government, eligibility is based on proper registration and verification through official platforms.
Here are the steps to benefit:
- Check Eligibility
The program targets vulnerable Nigerians — including low-income families, unemployed individuals, and those registered under poverty databases.
Names are drawn from the Rapid Response Register (RRR) and the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) database.
- Registration Platforms
Citizens are expected to register through official channels. One widely referenced link is via NASSCO/NCTO portals.

- Required Documents
Beneficiaries must provide:
National Identification Number (NIN)
Bank Verification Number (BVN)
Registered phone number
A valid means of identification
- Collection of ATM Cards
Designated distribution centres are set up in each local government.
After verification, beneficiaries are issued ATM cards linked to the program’s payment system.
- Activation & Payment
Once the ATM card is activated, the ₦75,000 payment is transferred directly.
Beneficiaries can withdraw at ATMs or use the card for transactions.
Transparency Measures
The government says it is determined to avoid past controversies of ghost beneficiaries and diversion of funds.
Each beneficiary’s NIN and BVN must match government databases.
Payments are tied to individual debit cards, not bulk cash transfers.
Civil society groups are also demanding independent audits to track how the funds are disbursed.
Voices from the Ground
At the Gombe launch, many beneficiaries expressed relief.
“I almost gave up when I heard it on the radio, but today I collected my card. I am happy because this ₦75,000 will help me with food and school fees,” said Amina Musa, a widow.
Another beneficiary, Ibrahim Umar, added: “Things are very hard. Even rice is out of reach. With this support, at least we can survive a little while longer.”
Challenges Ahead
While the initiative is widely welcomed, experts warn that:
Distribution may be slow in rural areas with poor infrastructure.
The ₦75,000, though helpful, may not last long in the face of rising inflation.
There are fears of political interference and favoritism in the beneficiary list.
The government, however, insists that the program is non-partisan and strictly for vulnerable households across all regions.

Final Word
The ₦75,000 cash transfer is not a permanent solution to Nigeria’s economic struggles, but it represents a critical lifeline for millions of families currently struggling to survive.
As the phased rollout continues across the 36 states and the FCT, Nigerians are urged to be vigilant, follow official channels, and avoid fraudulent middlemen.

I don’t know if I should commend this initiative or condemn it. However it is an acknowledgement of the fact that the economic policies as being done presently is impacting negatively on the masses. Giving out a one stop palliative to people, how does it solve the problem and give people the leverage to better life. If a man is on journey and discover he is going the wrong way, I believe that it is wise to stop and and retrace his step to find the right way. Mr President you indeed derailed from the start of the whistle.when you jump started removing the petroleum subsidiaries and and went further to devalue our currency to nothing for a country who almost depend imports for local consumption and even f the little number of industries still operating in Nigeria. I believe that if we are sincere and care for a better life the masses , the government should think of production of goods and opening new opportunities such the wealth will spread round. 75,000 naira how much thing can buy with it and for how long. Please kindly think better than just rolling out this change that have no meaningful impact. Thanks.
How do I apply?
I am unemployed for a long time now and have a family of 4.it will go along way if I can get the Federal government 75000 naira cash transfer.
How do I get my own? Because when it is said that it’s all Nigerian that are affected positively; this is where there’s partiality cause I didn’t collect mine.
In some Local government in River state like Tai LGA they will turn it politically in the sense you are not part of us but they will refuse to understand that the opportunity was brought up by the Government for everybody to take part.
