Eight Hunters Killed in Gun Battle With Bandits in Niger State
What Happened
A sad event happened in Niger State on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Bandits entered Hunyo/Sabon Wuri village in Mariga Local Government Area. They came with guns and stole many cows from the villagers.
Local hunters tried to stop them. But the bandits fired many shots. A big gun fight started between the hunters and the armed men.
Hunters Lost Their Lives
During the fight, eight hunters were killed.
These brave men stood to defend their community, but the bandits had more guns and power.
The bodies of the hunters were later taken to General Hospital, Bangi.

Reports say the bandits were moving with the stolen cattle when the hunters blocked them between Kakihum and Kumbashi.
