Osun SSG, 5 Others Arrested Over Vote-Buying Probe

The Osun State Police Command has arrested the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, alongside five other suspects following a targeted raid linked to an ongoing investigation into alleged vote-buying and electoral malpractice.

According to official statements from police authorities, security operatives acted on credible intelligence and conducted a swift search on a residential property associated with the SSG located in the Oroki Estate axis of Osogbo, the state capital.

During the tactical operation, law enforcement personnel recovered a total sum of ₦4,810,500 in cash, alongside key electoral materials including Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), official voter registers covering Wards 1 through 15 across Osogbo Local Government Area, a Dynabook laptop, a photocopy machine, and heavy-duty printing equipment.

Police Public Relations Officer for the command, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed that all six suspects remain in police custody while homicide and electoral offense investigators proceed with detailed interrogations to establish the source and intended destination of the seized items.

Responding to the development, the Osun State Government strongly rejected the allegations, describing the police operation as a politically motivated invasion. State officials asserted that local party stakeholders were merely conducting a peaceful ward-level administrative meeting at the premises prior to the arrival of law enforcement agents.
