Ten harrowing days in captivity came to an end in the early hours of Friday, as joint military forces secured the release of a senior Nigerian Army officer and a civilian in Enugu State.

“The victims attributed their rescue to the sustained pressure mounted by the joint troops, which denied the kidnappers freedom of movement and compelled them to abandon their captives,” the official military report stated.

Both rescued individuals sustained varying degrees of gunshot wounds during their abduction and subsequent days in captivity. Frontline troops quickly secured the area and coordinated an immediate emergency evacuation.

Lieutenant Colonel Amobi and Mr. Onwuanra were rushed to the 82 Division Medical Hospital, where medical sources confirm they are responding positively to intensive treatment and trauma care.
